Template documentation
American English: {{{1}}}
Usage
To name a more specific regional variety, such as Southern American English, use the |var= parameter:
{{Lang-en-US|1=Y'all come on over and we'll eat hotdogs and watch football on TV|var=Southern American}}- Southern American English: Y'all come on over and we'll eat hotdogs and watch football on TV
The var value must exist as an article or redirect of the form "Var English language", e.g. Scottish English language, resolving to an article on that variety, or a redirect to American English or a section thereof. If such an article exists, but at a different name, e.g. New England English, you have to ensure that a redirect to it exists at New England English language. Do not abuse the template to refer to dialects outside the United States.
To give the dialect name parenthetically after the content, use the |paren= parameter:
{{Lang-en-US|1=second story|paren=y}}or{{Lang-en-GB|1=first storey|paren=y}}- Template:Language with name2 or Template:Language with name2
